Subprime woes "well contained" in market: Treasury Tue Mar 13, 2007 12:08PM EDT WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury's financial markets chief said on Tuesday that subprime mortgage problems appeared to be "fairly well contained" within the U.S. mortgage market. "We are monitoring it carefully and feel for the most part it's fairly well contained within that portion of the overall mortgage market, certainly within the overall capital market," Anthony Ryan, assistant Treasury secretary for financial markets, told Reuters. Ryan spoke on the sidelines of a Treasury Department conference on U.S. capital markets. © Reuters 2007. All rights reserved. Return to today's INSURANCE NEWSCAST
